Day 186 - Sunday, January 1, 2017
Happy New Year!  Yesterday we were in Baler.  We drove over and drove back in one day. We knew that New Year's Eve would be wild and we wanted to spend it safely at home. One of the meetings that took place in Baler is for District and Branch Presidents.  One President that attended came to tell me he and his wife got a job and are moving to Manila.  He thanked me for some help we gladly offered some time ago.  With eyes glistening and a tug at my heart, we shook hands and he left.  I'm not sure I'll ever see him again.  I had the presence of mind to quickly take a picture.  I think that this picture is reflective of the year past.  2016 was a great year.  It was a year of challenge, peace and wonderful opportunity. We say goodbye but not without having knowledge of all the good that happened, the relationships formed, the family that grew.  We look forward to 2017.  I have a great feeling that it will also be a fabulous year.  We have our health, our religion, our missionaries and our Savior.  A very good year ahead indeed.

Day 213 - Saturday, January 28, 2017 I sat in the hall with this cute sister in Bongabon.  We were waiting for the adult session to begin for the  District Conference.  It was fascinating to speak with her.  She has been working abroad for many, many years.  Her husband and two children remained in the Phililppines.  She is grateful to now live full-time in the Philippines again.

Day 336 - Monday, May 29, 2017 When I look at this picture, the words that come to mind are "Consecrated Servants."  Each couple has a place in our hearts.  These leaders range from Area Presidency and wives to Area Medical Professionals to Mission Presidents and their companions.  We gather two times a year under the direction of the Area Presidency.  These seasoned servants come from all over the world...Philippines, Netherlands, Europe and America.  All come with singular purpose but bring a multiplicity of talents.  A quote by Joseph F. Smith nicely sums up our feelings about these splendid saints, "Gratitude is said to be the memory of the heart."  We will never forget them and how they served us.

Day 378 - July 9, 2017 The next 24+ hours was spent on the road, catching a few hours sleep, Church in Cheyenne, Wyoming and more time driving and experiencing the landscape of the west and midwest.  My instagram post was, "Same moon; different hemisphere.  Still magical." #goinghome #chicagoland #nextadventure
